About Us

Dubai Early Childhood Development Center (DECDC), an initiative of the Government of Dubai’s Community Development Authority, is a unique early intervention program, the first in the Middle East; to provide state-of-the-art, comprehensive, family-focused, community-based, trans-disciplinary services to children (from birth to 6 years) with special needs or at risk for developmental delays and their families.

DECDC came about after a long and extensive benchmarking exercise of best practice early intervention programs across the world in addition to literature review and research activities in the field of early intervention and special needs. Furthermore, a gap analysis study and a current situation analysis of special needs in Dubai were conducted. All results indicated that there is a lack of early intervention services available in Dubai for children between the ages 0 to 6 years at the time. This urgent need gave birth to a one of a kind early intervention center, which is the first in the region and the third in the world to offer such services based on the AEPS (assessment, evaluation and programming system).

Developmental Milestones

Child development refers to how a child becomes
able to do more complex things as they get older.
Development is different than growth. Growth
only refers to the child getting bigger in size while
development is learning skills during specific time.
