Our Philosophy

DECDC believes in intervening at the earliest stages of life and in the natural environment. Children receiving intervention services early on will respond to rehabilitation more readily, function better, and need less special services in the future. Early intervention is enhanced further by working in the child’s natural environment, which promotes and enhances behavioral and developmental skills. Additionally, working in the natural environment helps families practice the techniques learned from professionals in their daily routine using items/settings familiar to the child.

Developmental Milestones

Child development refers to how a child becomes
able to do more complex things as they get older.
Development is different than growth. Growth
only refers to the child getting bigger in size while
development is learning skills during specific time.
