 Your Responsibilities

As a family enrolled with DECDC, you are required to:
 
In general:

  • Inform us of any changes in your child’s condition
  • Participate fully in the IFSP/IEP process
  • Work with your service providers to plan and carry out goals for your child
  • Inform DECDC of issues that may affect your child’s services
  • Attend your child’s sessions
  • Be on time for scheduled appointments
  • Notify ahead of time when you are unable to keep an appointment
  • Respect the people and environments where services are provided
  • Be present and actively participate in all assessment and interventions sessions conducted

During home visits

  • Note down any questions you may have and be prepared to discuss milestones
  • Practice the strategies with the service provider during the visit 
  • Use the strategies throughout the day with your child while noting their effectiveness

Developmental Milestones
 
  Child development refers to how a child becomes
  able to do more complex things as they get older.
  Development is different than growth. Growth
  only refers to the child getting bigger in size while
  development is learning skills during specific time.
