What is early invention?

EI is a system of intervention for children from birth to the age of six (i.e. until the age of starting school) who have special needs or who are at risk of developing a condition that could affect their development. The main purpose of early intervention is to tackle these effects at the earliest stages. The sooner the intervention begins, the better the outcomes for the child and the fewer services the child will require in the future. Children receiving early intervention have been observed to need less special education and facilitative services later on in life.  Early intervention could either be therapeutic in nature to address existing problems or be preventative to restrict their occurrence. It is either family focused or targeted at the individual, depending on the family’s priority and preference.

Developmental Milestones

Child development refers to how a child becomes
able to do more complex things as they get older.
Development is different than growth. Growth
only refers to the child getting bigger in size while
development is learning skills during specific time.
