CDA receives new office-bearers of Pakistan Association Dubai
Dubai, 27 June, 2011: The Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA) recently received the newly elected office-bearers of the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) to discuss ways of joint cooperation in enhancing social development and promoting the strategic outcomes of CDA, which are Social Inclusion, Cohesion, Empowerment and National Identity.
Welcoming the PAD delegation, Dr Omar Al Muthanna, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Regulatory and Licensing sector of CDA, congratulated the new office-bearers and offered them all support in their efforts to provide improved social services to the community of Dubai.
CDA has been mandated to regulate and license all social clubs within the Emirate of Dubai as per Dubai Executive Council Resolution No (4) of 2011. The Social Regulatory and Licensing Sector of CDA is concerned with regulating and licensing social service providers in addition to maintaining a progressive regulatory and licensing system that safeguards the social service beneficiaries in the Emirate of Dubai.
“The Community Development Authority is keen to actively engage with the social service providers in Dubai. This engagement will enable us to position Dubai as an inspiring model place for community well-being and fulfill the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai,” said Dr Al Muthanna.
CDA is working towards migrating the service delivery model in Dubai from “social welfare” to a “social development” approach with a sharp focus on empowerment, inclusion and cohesion. The Authority has extensive resources and knowledge in best practices and standards in social development, which social service providers in Dubai can make use of to complement their services.
“It is encouraging to have social service providers like Pakistan Association Dubai on board with us since they represent a vast section of the diverse communities of Dubai. A wider network for knowledge-sharing and joint efforts will enable CDA to extend its coverage across different sections of the community and promote its social development approach successfully,” added Dr Al Muthanna.
“We are delighted to be working with CDA as it gives us an opportunity to enhance the efficiency, quality, and diversity of our community service programmes. Working under the CDA umbrella by sharing knowledge and experiences will also enable social clubs to promote cross-cultural understanding and strong bonds within Dubai's multicultural society,” said Dr Ziaul Hassan, President of Pakistan Association Dubai.
