DECDC organizes summer activities for children with disabilities and their families
Dubai, UAE; August 8, 2011: Dubai Early Childhood Development Centre (DECDC), an initiative by the Community Development Authority in Dubai, organized a series of events during summer designed specifically for children with disabilities and their parents. This initiative is in line with DECDC’s vision to help the little ones strengthen their social skills through a wide range of activities that involve their siblings and family members, and help their integration within the society.
The events, attended by over 300 people, included visits to shopping malls in Dubai, such as Mall of the Emirates, Mirdif City Centre and Festival City Centre, where the children took part in a number of interesting activities and games.
"The events underscore our commitment to further develop the ability of the children with disabilities to connect and communicate with their peers and other community groups. The activities were conceptualised to provide a thoroughly fun experience for the little ones and their parents,” said Sheikh Maktoum bin Butti Al Maktoum, CEO of Social Care, CDA
“Dubai Early Childhood Centre works towards promoting the all-round development of children from all walks of life, and undertakes various initiatives that help achieve it. Such family activities will strengthen the social skills of children with disabilities and enhance their self-confidence,” said Dr. Bushra Al Mulla, Director of DECDC.
