The Community Development Authority (CDA) pays special attention to the senior citizens, and is keen to integrate them into the community. The authority also promotes the transfer of their knowledge and experience at a level commensurate with their physical condition and needs. CDA believes that benefiting from the expertise of the senior citizens is absolutely necessary for sustainable development.
The senior citizens have extensive expertise accumulated over many years, especially those who have witnessed the formation of the Federation and the different stages of the state development. It is such a waste to overlook these experiences, this knowledge and the cultural heritage that our younger generations need.
For the purpose of providing social services, the CDA defined the senior citizens as anyone above the age of 60 - the retirement age in the UAE. According to the Dubai Statistics Center, the senior citizens account for nearly 6.6% of total Emirati population in Dubai. This percentage is expected to rise gradually based on the continuous increasing of people's age & the development of health care services, which makes the senior citizens one of the most important community groups for which CDA provides various services.
